She has since forged a career across the pond in the hit Netflix sitcom “The Good Place” alongside Kristen Bell.
Who is Jameela Jamil?
Born February 25, 1986, Jameela Alia Jamil is an English television and radio presenter, model and actress.
The 32-year-old was struck by a car when she was 17, which broke several bones and severely damaged her spine.
After being told she may never walk again, Jameela underwent steroid treatment and physiotherapy before slowly recovering.
Jameela taught English to foreign students in Oxford Street where she also worked as a model and fashion scout for Premier Model Management.
She joined Channel 4 in 2008 and presented T4 for its entire run from 2009 until 2012.
Later that year, she replaced Reggie Yates on The Radio 1 Chart show.
Who is her boyfriend James Blake?
James Blake is an English singer and songwriter from London.
His self-titled first album was a critical success and his second album Overgrown was released in 2013 and awarded the Mercury Prize.
Blake received a Grammy Award nomination in 2014 for Best New Artist and has worked with the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Beyonce and Frank Ocean.
His dad James Litherland is also a musician.
What is The Good Place?
The Good Place is an American fantasy comedy television series about a dead saleswoman, Eleanor Shellstrop, who wakes up in a heavenly afterlife and discovers that she was sent there by mistake.
Jameela plays deceased wealthy philanthropist Tahani Al-Jamil whose name means “Congratulations Beautiful”.
She admitted that she exaggerated over her acting experience to get the part, having only ever performed in theatre when she was a child.
The series is aired on Netflix now and you can catch up on all 26 episodes.
